Paderborn social project to empower young people can be launched
DEUTSCHE FERNSEHLOTTERIE supports SC Aleviten Paderborn e.V. with €74,500
The non-profit organisation SC Aleviten Paderborn e.V. is delighted to receive a special-purpose grant of €74,500 from the German TV Lottery. This support will cover a proportion of the personnel and material costs for the association's project “Strong together for our lives and society – a project to empower young people in Paderborn” until May 2028. The total cost of the social project amounts to over €93,000. SC Aleviten Paderborn must raise its own contribution of €18,500 through donations.
"The support of the GERMAN TV LOTTERY is literally the jackpot for us. Only thanks to the trust placed in our organization can we sustainably empower young people affected by social disadvantage. By supporting their commitment and active participation, young people are given the opportunity to experience and develop their self-efficacy. In this way, we are making an important contribution to promoting social cohesion by emphasizing values such as tolerance, respect, and mutual understanding," says a delighted Verani Kartum, Chairman of SC Aleviten Paderborn e.V.
Young people, especially those with a migrant background, often face challenging life situations characterized by social, economic, and cultural disadvantages. Many of them experience a strong sense of hopelessness, which is exacerbated by a lack of future opportunities and a lack of social participation. Bullying and exclusion are often part of their reality. These experiences not only lead to diminished self-esteem but also impair their mental health and trust in social communities. There is also often a lack of understanding of democratic values, which exacerbates social tensions.
This is precisely where the funded Paderborn social project comes in.
A wide range of workshops and training programs are being developed, tailored to the needs of young people. Volunteering and voluntary work among young people with and without a migration background are intensively encouraged, and involvement in decision-making processes is made tangible, thus fostering not only the common good but also an awareness of social responsibility and a basic understanding of democracy.
"Our project aims to strengthen personal self-esteem and solidarity through engagement. Active project participation by young people fosters a sense of community. This not only strengthens regional social cohesion but also contributes to promoting democratic values, respect, and an inclusive society in Paderborn," says Andreas Lexy, head of the youth department at SC Aleviten Paderborn e.V.
"Since its founding in 2012, SC Aleviten Paderborn e.V. has been committed to integration, inclusion, social affairs, and sports. The German Television Lottery is convinced that the combination of its experience, expertise, and a strong regional network will enable it to successfully implement its project. As a social lottery, we are happy to help with this," says Stephan Masch, representative of the German Television Lottery.
In 2024, the German Television Lottery distributed €50 million to over 300 social projects in Germany. Of these, 61 projects were funded in North Rhine-Westphalia with a total of over €75 million. Over the past ten years, 473 social projects have been supported in North Rhine-Westphalia with more than €68.3 million. The Paderborn social project also benefits from the aid generated from the proceeds of the social lottery ticket sales.
In addition to supporting social projects, the GERMAN TV LOTTERY offers its players the chance to win millions, receive an immediate pension, or receive attractive non-cash prizes. In 2024 alone, over 767,000 people enjoyed winnings totaling more than €39.9 million, 76 of whom won more than €100,000, and 14 million-dollar winners were lucky enough to win. A GERMAN TV LOTTERY ticket is a win for everyone. Every year, at least 30 percent of the GERMAN TV LOTTERY ticket proceeds are donated to charitable causes throughout Germany via the German Relief Foundation. The focus is on supporting children, young people, families, senior citizens, people with disabilities or serious illnesses, and neighbors.
SC Aleviten-Team: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR GREAT SUPPORT!!! WE ARE DIVERSITY!!!

Brief description of the funded project sponsor:
Since its founding in 2012, SC Aleviten Paderborn e.V. has been committed to integration, inclusion, social affairs, and sports. The entire team consists of a diverse group of volunteers and cares for socially disadvantaged families, children, and young people with and without a migration background. We have made it our mission to support and accompany refugees, socially disadvantaged people, children, young people, and people with disabilities through sports and far beyond. Everyone is welcome here, and "no one is left out." We offer services and support that extend far beyond sports, e.g., assistance with administrative procedures, doctor's appointments, language courses, school, training, work, and many other personal everyday problems. Sport connects people and has an integrative effect, providing access. Therefore, we have taken the initiative to offer refugees, children, young people, socially disadvantaged people, and people with disabilities a meaningful sporting activity, thereby simultaneously promoting integration into society.

SC Aleviten sends a strong signal for protection against violence in sport
SC Aleviten Paderborn has been accepted into the statewide quality alliance for protection against sexual and interpersonal violence in sports. With exceptional commitment, the club has met the required ten quality criteria, thus conveying a clear stance against violence in sports.
Josephine Rohmann, Coordination Office for Protection against Sexual and Interpersonal Violence at the Paderborn District Sports Association (KSB Paderborn), presented the club with the official seal and membership certificate.
"Our goal is to provide a safe environment for all children and young people from different nations, cultures, and religions and to protect them from sexual and interpersonal violence. We are very pleased to be accepted into the Quality Alliance and would like to thank the KSB Paderborn and the Paritätisches Jugendwerk NRW for their guidance, training, and support throughout the entire process," emphasizes Verani Kartum, the association's first chairman.
The path to membership was by no means short: As early as 2023, the association began with a fundamental risk analysis, which, among other things, examined the association's own structures, processes, and premises for potential risks that could encourage boundary violations and assaults. This was followed by a series of measures, including a change to the statutes, training courses, and the training of contact persons. The final milestone was the comprehensive protection concept, which describes all concrete measures the association implements in prevention and intervention. It clarifies key attitude issues and formulates clear rules of conduct and rights for children and young people, which must always be observed in the association's daily operations.
As the third club from the Paderborn district to be accepted into the NRW Quality Alliance, SC Aleviten is committed to the issue and aims to implement and further develop preventive measures in the long term. "With every club that addresses the issue and joins the Quality Alliance, we hope to create a little more awareness and sensitivity for the issue of violence in sports, so that people listen, take notice, and act appropriately," says Josephine Rohmann of the KSB Paderborn.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

We thank you very much for your donation for the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria!
With your support, we can help the people affected directly in the earthquake zone and thus hand over the collected donations there. The daily lives of relatives in the earthquake zone are marked by pain, suffering, and grief. Every small and large amount of money helps alleviate the situation in the earthquake zone.
On Saturday, March 4, 2023, one of our volunteers flew to Hatay and will deliver the first donations there. Many houses there are uninhabitable and destroyed.
In the near future, we will travel personally to the earthquake areas and distribute all collected donations to those affected there.
The SC Aleviten team says THANK YOU! for your support!
We wish you a wonderful and healthy time.

Our thoughts are with the many victims, and our condolences go out to their families and loved ones.

We receive calls for help every day, and many people have lost loved ones and are homeless.
We have also set up a special account/donation account
at Sparkasse Paderborn-Detmold:

IBAN: DE67 4765 0130 1010 2039 80

Purpose of use: "Spende Erdbeben Türkei/Syrien"

Account holder: SC Aleviten Paderborn e.V.

As usual, you will receive a donation receipt from us.

PayPal: erdbeben@scaleviten-paderborn.de

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

People are desperate, in a state of shock, in grief and are urgently asking for financial support. Many have lost their loved ones and everything they owned. We mourn with the people and try to give them support and are by their side as partners in conversation. Our members and volunteers are also deeply affected and hope to receive financial support through us. Hidayet S. from Paderborn, for example, lost 14 of his relatives in the badly affected city of Hatay/Antakya in the earthquake. Over 40 people died in the settlement. He has been a volunteer at SC Aleviten for 10 years and is affectionately called "The Doner Kebab Cutter" by the members because he makes delicious doner kebabs at all festivals and events. Many Paderborn pharmacists know Hidayet S. because he regularly delivers medication as a driver. He will be cutting kebabs as usual on February 25th and then flying to Hatay, Turkey on March 4th to see for himself and to mourn his deceased relatives. He is still in shock and is trying to distract himself with work and, of course, talking a lot about it. The images are burned into his mind and he has also lost his house in Hatay, which he worked hard for over 20 years here in Germany. SC Aleviten is like a second family to him and he naturally hopes that we can collect a lot of donations and thus help and support many families in Hatay. The people in Turkey are in shock and can only cry and suffer under the situation and urgently need psychological help. We have many such fates in our club, reports Verani Kartum. The cries for help and pleas for financial assistance don't stop. Many people are only now realizing what has happened in Turkey and Syria. Many Syrian refugees who have been living with us in Paderborn for several years and have many relatives there are desperate because they cannot help and their relatives there are now homeless and urgently need financial assistance.
Money is the most important thing at the moment because the earthquake victims have lost everything and are penniless. Therefore, our benefit event is very important and is also a place where people can meet to process their grief together and to talk to one another. We have received a large number of registrations from those affected and many want to tell their stories. We are urgently asking for apartments to be made available to accommodate homeless earthquake victims for a few months. We are receiving many inquiries from Turkey, which has been granted permission to leave the country. Our event is supported by a broad alliance of supporters and grassroots sports and local league footballers want to show their solidarity with the earthquake victims. We will be offering free food and drinks and two bouncy castles have been organized for the children. A goal wall will also be available. At the same time, six artists will be playing music in turns throughout the day for the football tournament, and we hope that lots of donations will be collected over coffee and cake. We would like to politely point out that we do NOT accept donations in kind. In 1999, after the severe earthquake in Marmaris, Turkey, we collected donations and personally delivered them to the affected areas and distributed them to the people affected. At that time, people were very grateful to receive cash, which allowed them to meet their needs. Therefore, this time, we guarantee that we will personally pass on all donations to the affected people. No costs will be deducted from the donations, and they will go directly to the earthquake victims. We will regularly and transparently report on donation amounts.

We sincerely thank the many helpers, initiatives, and donors who have so far provided impressive support and helped the people in Turkey and Syria. Please stay tuned and continue to help. The people in Turkey and Syria are very grateful to Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Germany! Thanks to many supporters and helpers, we are able to organize our benefit event and thank all participants:

DFB-Stiftung-Egidius Braun, Paderborn District Sports Association (KSB), North Rhine-Westphalia State Sports Association (LSB), Paderborn District Municipal Integration Center (KI), FLVW-Westphalia, FLVW-Paderborn District

She has also won the title of "Best Band in the West" on WDR2 twice as part of a band. Since 2023, she has also received the Pop Scholarship from the Bundesverband Popularmusik e.V.
Her new song "KEIN LIMIT" is musical, danceable German pop madness à la Ärzte, Kraftklub, and in the tradition of the new German wave. But she's also known for soulful ballads and her distinctive, deep, and powerful voice.
The SC Aleviten team welcomes any participation and support.

Berlin, October 22, 2022
#SolidarityAutumn / Energy Crisis-Social Justice

SC Aleviten Paderborn will be participating in the large demonstration in Berlin on Saturday, October 22nd, under the motto: #SolidarityAutumn
As an MSO member of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband (Paritätische Welfare Association), we support our overall association in Berlin and will demonstrate for social justice at the Brandenburg Gate with our Managing Director, Ulrich Schneider.
The current energy crisis particularly affects people with a migration background, refugees, and socially disadvantaged people. Together with the young people of SC Aleviten, we want to draw attention to the unequal burden. While the rich and wealthy are hardly burdened, others suffer from the high costs. With inflation at around 10%, it is barely possible to make ends meet and are being driven into poverty. This affects our club and our members just as much as it affects many other people in Paderborn. The recent study of fourth-graders has shown that many children with a migration background are being left behind and perform very poorly in reading, writing, and arithmetic.
We are pleased that the youth forum of the Democracy Office "Love Diversity" is supporting the trip as part of the federal program "Live Democracy!" of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.
With this, we want to show our young people with a migration background and refugees how they can engage in solidarity in a democracy and peacefully demonstrate for their rights. Our J-Team (Young Team SCA) has been committed to social justice and participation through sports for many years and is supported by the LSB-NRW.
The demonstration in Berlin is organized and supported by a broad alliance, including:
Verdi, GEW - Education and Science Union, Greenpeace Germany, the German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation, Volkssolidarität, Campact e.V., Attac Germany, Finanzwende e.V., the Paritätische Welfare Association, AWO, DMB, Fridays for Future Germany, WWF Germany, NABU Federal Association, Sanction-Free, VCD, and many more.
The demonstrations will take place simultaneously in six cities across Germany.
Further information is available at: www.solidarischer-herbst.de
Our organization would be grateful for monetary donations so that we can continue to support refugees.
